ROAD BOARDS.
AVON.
The last meeting of the Avon Road Board was attended by the chairman (Mr W. J. Walter), and Messrs Cleland, Parish and C. H. Walter. The chairman reported that with Mr deland he had gone to Wellington to represent the ratepayers in the mat ter oi th© proposed extension of the Drainage Board's area at Belfast. In connection with the subdivision of Sloane's farm at Belfast, recently acquired by the Government, efforts were being made to have on© of tho roads made a through road to Turner's road. The Church Property Trustees wrote, asking that the frontage to their land on Hill's road be set back and tho road formed and a footpath made. They offered to contribute towards the cost of the -work. It was decided that the financial position would not allow of the work being done at present The dedication of Leith street, Richmond, was accepted. Notices to abate a nuisance at Papamii wero ordered to be served on the owners. A petitioa was received from ratepayers on Winter's road, asking that a drain on the north side of the road be deepened. As the Board would construct a path *t this place in the future the request could not bo entertained. A request that a. road at the Lower Styx be formed was agreed to, provided the ratepayers mostly interested gave oir«third of the labour. Tt was decided that Frost's road be repaired, and that a new- bridge be constructed at Alexanders. As the rates were being receiver! very slowly, the clerk was instructed to true all ratepayers who had not paid their rates on January 31st next.
