THE NEW AGRICULTURAL SHOW GROUNDS.
■■-.;. • ■ +~, ' The friends of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be pleased to ' learn that the agreement for the purchase of jfr Twigger's land at Addington was completed yesterday. No effort is to be spared to make the new grounds as attractive as they will be convenient. Competitive designs for a complete show-yard are to be invited. Already some friends of the Association have signified their intention of assisting substantially in the big task which has been undertaken. The grounds will be supplied with; all the modern requisites which go to make a complete show-yard. The main entrance to the grounds will be intheLincoln road— thanks to Mr Twigger's munificent gift of six acres on that road. The other end of the grounds will be approached by a railway siding, which. will enable stock to be landed on the grounds from the trucks. This is a convenience the extent of which can only be fully appreciated by stockowners themselves, and those who travel by rail to the show. The main entrance is exactly ten chains further from the centre of the city than the old grounds are, so that the general public will not have much to complain of. It will not be possible to hold the next show on the new grounds, as much of it will have to be laid down in grass. The first event will probably be the ram fair in March next.
