Bankruptcy Court. — His Honor Mr Justice Ward will sit in Bankruptcy tomorrow. The Mayor's Chain. — Mr Ayers' link lias been added to the Mayoral Chain. It was made by Mr F. Gapes. Jubilee Memorial Home. — Tho ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Jubilee Home will be performed by the K.W. District Grand Master of the Masonic fraternity on Thursday, Feb. 2. Theatre Royal. — The second performance of Bret Harte's drama, "The Miner's Daughter," attracted a large audience, and the play went remarkably well, the audience being apparently thoroughly satisfied with the efforts of the actors to amuse them. To-night the piece will be given for the last time, and to-morrow there will be a change of programme. Melbourne Centennial Exhibition. — The meeting to consider the communicationf rom the Royal Commission appoin ted to make arrangements for the representation of the Colony at the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition, will be held at the City Council Chambers at 8 p.m. to-day. Considering the importance of the subject, it is to be hoped that there will be a large attendance. Mails to Akaroa, via Pigeon Bay. — The agents of the s.s. Akaroa, Messrs Kinsey and Co. have arranged for the Harbour Board's tug Lyttelton to carry Her Majesty's mails to Pigeon Bay, as the Akaroa is laid up for a few days while her new boiler is being fixed. The work is expected to be finished in time to allow the Akaroa to resume her usual running on Friday next. Waimate Racing Club. — At a meeting of the Waimate Racing Club, on Saturday', there were present Messrs M. C. Studholme (in the chair), F. Simmons, M. O'Brien, J. Dooley, and J. S. D'Emden (Hon Sec.) A racing programme for St Patrick's Day was drawn up for submission to the C.J.C., with added money to the i extent of .£IOO, St Patrick's Handicap, of 1 30 soys, being the principal stake. Queen's Cadets.— -A battalion parade of 1 the Queen's Cadets took place on the Drilli shed grounds yesterday evening. The i strength of the variouß companies was as follows : — No. 1, Captain Ayers, 49 ; No. 2, : Captain Hart, 50; No. 3, 46; No. 4. , Lieutenant Twentyman, 51; Band, 26; : Total, 222. No officer of No. 3 Company I was present. The companies were put ) through a number of battalion movements ! by Major Richards. The work was performed in a creditable manner. Carbine Match. — The E Battery of L Artillery resumed their competitions for Sergeant Jackson's cup and the Battery • gold star on Saturday last at the Volunteer » range, Gunner F. Godfrey being top scorer l for the cup with 68 points (20 handicap), i and Sergeant-Major Sinclair heading the list for the star with 62 points. The shooting, as is always the case when Eynoch's L ammunition is used with carbines, was i exceedingly poor.
