Thb Mayoraltt. — His Worship the Mayor to-day received from a deputation of the citizens an influentialiy signed requisition asking him to consent to be nominated for a second term of office. After hearing Mr Matson, the spokesman of the deputation, Mr Louisson consented to the request, at the same time stating that he considered the Mayoralty should, as a rule, be held for only ono year, and that were an eligible citizen, or one of the Councillors, to wish to have the honour, so far from opposing him, he (Mr Louisson) would support him. Sydenham Working Men's Ci*tjb. — The last of the Beries of monthly " socials " ' in connection with the Sydenham and Addington Working Men's Club, took place last Wednesday evening, when the social room was crowded with the members and their friends, who were delighted with the programme prepared for their amusement. Great credit is due to the Com-< mittee for their untiring energy in procuring local talent for these occasions.. Thanks are also due to the ladies and gentlemen who so ungrudgingly placed their valuable services at the disposal of the Committee, and helped to make the entertainments the success they undoubtedly have been.
