"MANIFESTLY A BLUFF"
DISQUALIFICATION THREAT
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, This Day
In reply to a threat from the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to.disqualify the amateur cyclists competing at ■the.'Manukau Club's meeting next Friday, in view of that, club's affiliation with -the New Zealand Union of Cyclists, Mr. Stewart, secretary of the New Zealand Union of Cyclists, has issued a statement that such disqualification must be inoperative, for two reasons. First, the New Zealand Union of Cyclists is affiliated to the International Union of Cyclists and. the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is not. Secondly, the cycle meeting in question is a. club meeting, and all the riders are members of the club and cannot be disqualified for competing at their own club meeting. Therefore, Mr. Stewart says, the threat of disqualification was manifestly a bluff.
