SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
During yesterday afternoon and evening barometers which have been rising fairly rapidly, remained almost steady, and there was a renewal of unsettled conditions. Light to moderate rains fell at scattered places In most parts of the Dominion, and between about 8 p.m. and 10.10 p.m. a thunderstorm of slight intensity occurred at Wellington. Towards morning pressure again began to rise sharply, winds freshened somewhat from the south-east, and, though it was still raining at 9 a.m. at a few places, the weather began to improve.
