BRUSHES AND BROOMS
Brooms and brushes in constant use are seldom cleaned as often as they need it. They should be washed each week, for dirty brushes mean dirty floors. '
Make a nice lather of melted soap and hot water, adding a smaU tablespoon of common sola. Use enough water to cover the bristles. Take all the loose fluff and pieces from the brushes before washing, then 6hake them up and down in the water, changing it if necessary. Einse thoroughly by shaking in warm water, and then m cold, to which salt has been added. For hand brushes, stiff and soft, use a dessertspoon of salt to a quart of water. "When washed shake the brushes well in the open air, and dry them as quickly as you can. Be sure to use salt with your cold rinsing water, because this will stiffen the bristles and strengthen them.
