NAPIER-WAIROA ROAD
Eeporting in, regard to roads, the service .officer, .of. the. Hawkes Bay Automobile Association, Mr. Staee. says: =- • - -.:. f
"The papier- Wairoa.road is still receiving considerable attention, ana from Kotemaori on care should be taken, as the road is being deviated in several places, and newly metalled stretches and pieces of the old road that have been allowed to fall into disrepair are continually being encountered. Those stretches of old road that have been allowed to fall into disrepair will shortly have their place taken by the new-deviations. Therefore I do^ribt suppose that wo can expect them to be kept right up K'to the mark" until the last moment.- A cciv tain amount of scouring has taken place around the edges of the concrete bot' terns of the fords above Tangoio, but as I believe these are to be bridged this coming year, I suppose that it is just a case of grin and bear it. There are two bad corners from that road that I ■ should recommend the association to try and have improved. The first is just above the first ford at Tangoio, and the second, and worst, the double bend just beyond the y.M.C.A. at Kotemaori. . This, especially at night time, is a mo3t dangerous place on the road."
