DEATH OF GENERAL CARR.
117 OFFIOERS AND MEN SLAUGHTERED. NEW YORK, Sept. 3. Intelligence haß been receired from New Mexico of a terrible massacre byIndians in that territory. A. party of United States soldiers under General Carr waa attacked in great force by the Indians, who completely overwhelmed their victims and massacred the whole detachment. The total number killed was 118, including General Carr and 117 officers and men.
