Trap Accident. — About eleven o'clock this morning, a lady and gentlemen were driving down Colombo street, and at the corner of Lichfield and Colombo streets their horse shied at a hand-cart -which -was turned up with come luggage in it. The occupants were thrown out, and the horse after struggling and kicking, fell and broke one of the shafts, and otherwise damaged the vehicle. The lady received a shaking, but met with no serious injury. Canterbury Caledonian Society; — At a meeting of the Directors of the Canterbury Caledonian Society, held last night, the programme of the sports to be held at ' Lancaster Park on Anniversary Day (Dec. ' 17) was adopted. It contains a neir J feature in the shape of four races for boys, j two for those under fifteen, and two for '. boys under twelve. The programme will i comprise the usual national items — High- j land dancing, pipe music, &c. It was decided to hold the annual sapper at the ' Clarendon Hotel on the oustomary date, ! St Andrew's Day. Eangiora Police Court. — At this Court to-day, J. ;Moorhouse was charged ; before H. Blackett and A. Ivory, Esq., j with having been drunk and disorderly j the previous evening. On accused being asked if he had any excuse to offer, he j expressed regret, and said he thought the best thing the Bench could do would be to issue a prohibition order against him. Sergeant Barlow thereupon applied for the order, and it was as readily granted, to be in , force in the Borough, Eaugiora, and Mandeville, Kowai and Kaiapoi districts for one year. Ten shots at each range." j Kaiapoi Boeottgh Council. — A special ' meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Coun- ! cil was held last evening, the Mayor ' being in the chair, to consider plana and specifications for extensive alterations and . repairs to the suspension bridge. Webster, Borough Engineer, was ' laid on the table by the Chairman of the I Works Committee (Councillor May).
