Eangioba Spobts.— A meeting of those interested in holding the New Year's Day sportß at Bangiora was convened for Monday, but as only a few persona assembled, it was agreed to adjourn the business until some evening next week. Mr G. Cone occupied the chair. Eangiora Domain Board. — At a special meeting of this Board, held yesterday afternoon, at which there were present Messrs A. Parsons (Chairman), A. Ivory, E. Mulcock, J. Lilly and JUT. Duncan, plans of a grand stand to seat 150 persons for erection at the Domain, were adopted, and the tender of Messrs Boyd and Keir for the building of the (structure was accepted. The plans were prepared by Mr J. B. Sheath. Anhat. — A Band of Hope entertainment in connection with the local Society was held in the Annat School on Friday evening last. Thera was a good attendance, and Mr John Robertson occupied the chair. | The Eev J. Eapley addressed the meeting, j and the following, also took part in the I programme : — Misses E. Maxwell, Eva Eapley, Stokes (2), Montgomery, Newton and Mrs Piner, Messrs G. Sing, H. Mont- '• gomery, Coombs (2), Masters Claude Eapley and Leonard Piner. Mr Max j Whatman, a visitor to the district, in a j very plea&ant address, congratulated those ! present upon the general appearance^ of sobriety and industry he had met with , everywhere in his short stay. ! Cricket. —On Saturday, a match ' between the Courtenay and Waddington ' Clubs was played at Sheffield, and resulted ' in a win for the latter Clubby six wickets. The scores were :— Courtenay, 22 and 34 j Waddington, 26 and 32 for the loss of four wickets. It is only fair to the visiting team to state that through the absence of come of their players, they had to play four substitutes. The principal Bcorers were : — For Courtenay, A. Simpson 13, T. Fairbain 12, and T. H. Anson 8 ; for . Waddington, J. Baird 13 not out, J. ; Hislop 11, and Q. King 11. For Wad- ! dington, J. Bstrd was very successful with the ball, taking no less than twelve wickets. Bangioba Stjkday Schools.— On Monday a united meeting of teachers of the various Sunday Schools in Bangiora was held at the Presbyterian Church, toarrange for the annual gathering o£ Sunday Schools. The Eev 3. Smellie was voted to : the chair. It was resolved to hold the-; gathering in the Borough School ground, ■ if available, on the second Sunday in January ; also, that the Christian Brethren, Southbrook and Feraside Sunday Schools should be invited tc [take part.
