■■ ■♦ . TEA MEETING- AND SALE OF WOSK. A very successful tea meeting and eala of work took place in the district schoolroom on Friday, Nowl6, for the purpose of raising money to reduce the debt on the organ, which amounted to JBI3O Ids. The Bale of work commenced at four o'clock in the schoolroom, where < willing '- hands had transformed it into a showy j place of business. ' The stall was presided over by Meedames Latter^EUis, Worsley, Wright, and other members of the Ladies' Parochial Association, by whose praiseworthy exertions the various articles offered for sale were obtained. While the eale was proceeding, a sumptuous tea was being laid out in the adjoining room, to which the public were admitted at nz o'clock. So many presented themselves that the tables had to be refilled several times before all were served. The various tables were provided by the followingladies :— Mesdamesßaker,Latter, Strutters Williams, Cuddon, Fletcher, Stack, Bruce, Smythe and Mrs SusseE. At eight o'clock, seats having been arranged where the tables stood for the convenience of the large audience asaamI bled in the room, a very good concert, i under the management of Mr E. C. Latter, ! took place. The instrumental parts were contributed by Miss Webley and her brother, the Misses Meeson, Fletcher, Ellis, and Knight. The songs by Mrs. Brace, Miss May Templer, May Caddon, and Beeeon, Mesars Hanson, Eowland, At3dns*ancl BEexton. An interval of naif an hoar, which ocenrsed about the middle of the concert, gave those who desired to do so an opportunity of visiting the stall, which was well patronised by most persons in the ■room. i Befoeerclosingthe-evening's proceedings, the Eev J. W. Stack proposed a hearty vote-of thanks to those ladies and gentlemen who had assisted to make the evening pass so pleasantly, especially to those who had taken the trouble to oome from a distance to give their help. BJr J. Naylor Beckett proposed in a few appropriate words a vote of thanks to the ladies who had provided the tea. After singing the National Anthem the gathering dispersed. The proceeds of the . sale andrtea amounted to about £2s.
