ACCLIMATISATION CONFERENCE.
[Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. At the Acclimatisation Conference this morning a sub-committee suggested that the fee for general fishing iicerises should be fixed at twenty shillings, the price for local licenses being left to the discretion of the societies. It also recommended that the penalty in cases of the destruction of fish with lime or dynamite be £6 minimum and .£SO maximum, with the option of six months' imprisonment, and that no refrigerating company shall be allowed to receive or keep fish or game during the close season. Other suggestions were also made to prevent poaching. The conference affirmed the desirability of establishing a marine hatchery near Dunedin, and recommended that the .Government should afford the Otago Acclimatisation Society every assistance in furtherance of the project. The conference affirmed that all netting in any lake should be carried on subject to regulations, the details of which are to be settled by the society interested.
