ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
I INQUEST. , An inquest touching the death of Mr James Young, a jockey, who was injured at tne Amberley Steeplechase Meeting, was field at the Christchurch Hospital this atternoon, before Mr R. Beetham, coroner, and a jury, of which. Edward Butcher was chosen foreman. -Dr Fox stated that when deceased was brought to the Hospital, he j was m a critical condition, and was unconscious. He had examined the body, and found that death was due to pneumonia and concussion of the brain. David Mitchell, a horse-trainer, said he knew deceased and saw him fall off the horse, which rolled on top of him and dragged him along for some distance. The horse had no plates on his feet, and the ground was very slippery. William Brown, a jockey, said he was with deceased till he was taken to the hospital, during which time he was unconscious. The jury found that death was 1 due to pneumonia and concussion of the brain. ' ■
