THE MAYOR OF BIDDEFORD.
The Mayor of Biddeford (a town of 15,000 inhabitants) was asked : " Have the sheriffs been perfectly impartial in the discharge of their duties, and he replied : — " I should think not. There is money in it. If you had been at the trotting park yesterday you would have seen them; Selling liquor. The Republicans have - got control now of our entire force of constables, and rum is as free in Biddeford as ever it was in the world."
